Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.

Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
